Create your own textured art piece, a mini rug or a fun patch using the punch needle technique. It’s beginner-friendly, and - once you get the hang of it - almost meditative, and great for anyone who loves working with their hands and experimenting with colours.

With Valentina, you’ll learn the basics, experiment with color and texture, and create your own unique piece to take home. No prior experience needed but we hope children under 9 could have their parent/guardian present to help.

Recommended age 9+

Digital Detox (for teens)

In this Motley workshop with architect Kristiina, children are introduced to the basics of architecture, design, and creative problem-solving through hands-on building. Using mostly recycled materials, they’ll explore structure, balance, and form while bringing their own fun and creative ideas to life.

At Motley, it’s all about exploring ideas, making new friends, and turning everyday materials into something extraordinary.

No experience needed - just curiosity and imagination. Recommended age: 7+

Embroidery has made a comeback in recent years, re-emerging as a trendy, modern craft embraced by a new generation of makers, designers, and creatives.

In this workshop, led by Aimy, children are introduced to the basics of embroidery through a few, simple, techniques and stitches. They’ll explore patterns, textures, and color while developing fine motor skills, concentration and creative expression.

No experience needed. Recommended age: 7+.

With 3D card making, children can transform flat paper into imaginative, layered designs that quite literally jump off the page

Our design session is led by architect and artist Shabnam. Make a pop up card for the teacher to thank them for the past school year, or to friends or family to celebrate many other things worth celebrating this Spring.

Recommended age: 7+

Our Digital Detox session is aimed particularly for young people who are using digital devices. The Spring session will serve as an introduction to similar sessions in the Autumn. Our lovely instructor Fatima says:

Through gentle yoga, breathwork, open discussion and creative activities participants will cultivate a more intentional relationship with technology. The session will be a supportive space to reset, recharge, reconnect and to take agency of your time and attention.

Recommended age: 13+

A fun and dynamic acting "mini-course", designed to build confidence, creativity, and perfomance skills. Through games, improvisation, and scene work, students will explore character, storytelling, and working as an ensamble. The course encourages self-expression in a supportive environment, helping young people develop their voice, imagination and curiosity in acting.

Our recommendation is for participants to book and join all three classes.

These sessions are aimed at 12+ children only.

Sumi-e ink painting

Sumi-e is a simple and elegant style of ink painting, used in Japan and in China. Artists use a minimal amount of brush strokes to create subtle ink paintings that stimulate the imagination. The workshop is taught by Helsinki-based Japanese artist Takuyo Kawachi who has taught this technique to children and adults for many years.
